Ep #818 "The Nap"
About the topic of Elaine's religion. I recently went back to the archives and noticed in the episode "The Nap" that in the scene where Jerry has his new kitchen (built by the legendary man Conrad), Elaine is wearing a cross around her neck on a chain. From what I know, Elaine is not a religions person, and she thinks it's all crap.
I was wondering if anybody else had noticed this, and do they have the answer to why Elaine is wearing this ?

Elaine is Catholic. If you see "The Betrayal," (which will be repeated sometime this week), you notice that Elaine crosses herself.

Remember Elaine is Catholic, but the actress, Julia is not, so she may not know there is a correct order to the crossing. And I don't expect there were many technical advisors there to help her.

PS - don't believe anything said in season nine. There was little consitency to the rest of the episodes.
OK, fine....she doesn't believe in Catholocism....but Catholics and all other Christians don't believe in Judaism.....does that make them Jews???

I was raised Orthadox and we cross right to left. Catholics cross left to right.

Yes. Elaine is definitely Catholic. But am glad someone brought up this "Pothole" episode. Am reasonably certain that this one bode the end of s/f: The Elaine subplot was preposterous. And when I read online somewhere that Ms. L-D was displeased with some of the stupid things the s/f writers were producing for her character, I thought of this episode immediately.
What about the episode where Elaine is really annoyed at Puddy for not caring that Elaine is going to hell, because she is not religious. She & Puddy go to see a priest & both the priest & Elaine put their fingers above their heads & wiggle them as if they are the devil to Puddy & laugh? It was the episode where Elaine borrows Puddy car, and changes all the religious radio channels and steals his Jesus fish sticker off the car. I think you can wear a cross necklace & not be religious. Also the nipple Xmas card that she sent to a father some-one could be an old family priest. best wishes, Leah [email]
