Ya know something, I'm finally over my hatred for the man. From the moment that dumb luck Hail Mary to Gerard Phelan that robbed my beloved Hurricans of their rightful National Championship, I've wished him ill will for his entire career. I loved that he played in the CFL because that meant he was no news here in the States. You could go years without hearing his name mentioned except on sports quiz shows, and then onlyin reference to that fateful pass. Then he went to Buffalo. Guh.

Ask any South Floridian football fan which team he would want to see eliminated from the league for it's own good, or even eliminated from the planet for *its* own good, and the answer will be a resounding J-E-T-S- GONE GONE GONE!! But you can bet your parka Buffalo is a close #2. Then there was that whole Flutie Flakes debacle, then the trade out west, and now I thnk it's time to bury my own personal hatchet. The little guy has finally proven himself I think.

Ahh, the old Met Stadium! I grew up a half-mile from it, and my parents have had season tickets for the Vikings since before they were married. I recall how every other Sunday they'd get bundled up in purple Vikings snowmobile suits (!) with big furry mittens, to go out and tailgate in sub-freezing weather before watching the game. I went to a few games at the Met, but my only memories were of the cold weather and the hard benches.

I was curious about this particular game since I had never heard it was where the term "Hail Mary pass" originated, so I just called my father and asked about it. "I'd almost forgotten about that game. Yep, we were there. It was cold, as I remember..."
