Well, that's more like it. I didn't think much of the first two shows, but I really liked this one. Did anybody else notice how Jerry was having a ton of trouble not smiling as he said his lines?
Are there any other _Mad About You_ fans floating around here? My SO and I are contantly finding parrallels between their lives/reactions and our own. Great show.

I assume everyone caught the previous-show reference when Elaine (?) said Jerry's cousin had a face like a horse.
Jerry ALWAYS has trouble saying his lines without smiling - he is a great comedian but not a very good actor.... it makes the show even funnier.

Definitely a MAY fan. My wife and I really loved this weeks show. The mother-in-law routine may be old but it was damn funny. We also find a lot of parallels to that show and our own lives. Especially the shopping for a couch episode.

In the interview with Jason Alexander on "Fresh Air" which was rebroadcast last week, Alexander said that Jerry has a terrible time with that, mainly because he's not trained as an actor. One of the best instances of this is during the 'Junior Mint' episode where they are in the diner and Kramer is trying to talk Jerry into going to the operation with him. Jerry finally caves in to Kramer's request and finishes up the scene with the following line, which is spoken just on the verge of an outburst of laughter...
"Allright, let's go and watch them cut that fat bastard up" (paraphrased from memory for the nit-pickers)
If we could have seen the cast two seconds after the cut, I'm sure they'd all be pissing themselves laughing.
My husband and I have watched "Mad About You" since it debuted. I have often thought we were just like Paul and Jamie (well,I'm more like Jamie, but he is not as funny as Paul.) I have a neurotic sister, we have boring friends, can't decide what to do on Sundays, don't have enough gay friends, ...oh the list goes on! This is my favorite show after Seinfeld. It's great to see so many other people like it too!

--I agree, not that MAY is the 3rd best show on TV, but that we need a MAY newsgroup. I'm gettin tired of readin' about MAY on a group intended for Seinfeld.

Good idea, Ken. I loved it when Mad About You used to follow Seinfeld. It was a perfect Thursday night study break for me.
