Home of designer Lonstein's parents leveled in explosion

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, N.Y. (AP) _ The Hamptons home of the parents of fashion designer Shoshanna Lonstein was destroyed in a weekend gas explosion, police said. No one was injured.

Lonstein's father, Isaac, a maid and two puppies were in the 4,500-square-foot ranch house at the time of the explosion Saturday evening but were unhurt, neighbors told the New York Post.

Lonstein burst onto the fashion scene in the late 1990s. Before that, she had a relationship with comedian Jerry Seinfeld that started while she was a teenager. The pair broke up in 1997.

I didn't find it 'creepy' per se... unusual, yes. A grown woman, living with her controlling father. She seemed to be a very strong willed individual (especially towards George), it seems unnatural to live with, and put up with, a control freak like that.

Not at all. Rachel and her father were Orthodox Jews. Therefore they religiously observe the 10 commandments (plus about 600 more), including honoring your parents (and not eating lobster). Plus, in that situation, her father not surprisingly would keep his unmarried daughter under his wing until she married, no matter how strong willed she may have been.
