Why did Larry David leave?

I'm not sure why he left. Can someone fill me in as to why?

Larry wanted to call it quits after the sixth season to be able to work on movie productions/screenplays, but decided to stay on for the 7th season because Jerry asked him to. He made it clear, though, that after the 7th season, he was out of there, regardless if they decided to go on after that season.

Jerry's quoted in an interview as saying (and David himself confirming) that Larry was just burning out, and needed to take time off from series TV to try something else (feature film pro- jects, for instance) that didn't present constant weekly deadlines. Obviously they're all long past the point of needing the money. It didn't affect the two men's friendship, and the show and characters are so well established (and the writing team well enough in sync) that it doesn't seem to have had much effect on the quality of the program either. . You were doing SO well until you got here. :^) I'm afraid the show has gone down. There are still some good episodes. But compare the best this season to the best of season's past? No contest.
