Newman is mentioned first (but not seen) in The Revenge, episode 12, where he tells Kramer he is going to commit suicide. His off-camera voice is originally supplied by Larry David. But Wayne Knight's voice was later dubbed into the syndicated version.
Newman does not appear on-camera until episode 3, ironically, in The Suicide.
