What about Frasier?

Does anyone else find this show funny? Just thought I'd bring it up since MAY seems to be big, but I've never really liked that show. I find Frasier really funny, though.

Sometimes I hang on after Seinfeld and watch it...it's kinda hit-or-miss, but I love any and all appearances by the "Bulldog" and Frasier's brother Niels (Niles?). I just realized last week (duhhhh!) that Kelsey Grammar sings the closing tune.

It's not *Cheers*, but it easily beats most of the insipid stuff on the tube.

When I first started watching this show (the Premiere) I thought that it was very dry. But, now that I've been semi forced to watch it I think that it is pretty funny. I think that Niles (sp) is the best character on that show. He makes the show worth watching (closely followed by Eddie the dog).

I like Frazier because it's a fun, mellow show. Low on one-liners, but quite enjoyable. That style is particularly appropriate following Seinfeld. Kind of the proverbial cigarette after sex. - dan

I love FRASER. At the beginning of the season, I really didn't expect to like the show, because I was a great CHEERS fan, and I assumed this couldn't possibly be as good. It's not, of course, but it's different ... I like the little titled scenes ... Eddie the Dog always makes me laugh. I like trying to guess what celebrities are calling in on Fraser's talk show. And I think the characters - particularly those played by Kelsey Grammar and Jane Leeves - are terrific.

She is fabulous. I was surprised to see how well the "brother" character has turned out also. He can be pretty funny, especially when chasing after Daphne! :)

Me neither! I have a theory that it's a show that appeals most to "young marrieds," but I'm sure there are lots of exceptions!

Ditto. Helen Hunt is really a likeable actress, though.

It's nothing I can put my finger on at the moment, it's just the way I respond to the show. Maybe I'm comparing it too much to Cheers? Maybe it's because there aren't a lot of really funny characters in the show, except maybe Bulldog? On Cheers, for example, you had Norm, Cliff, Carla, etc. On Seinfeld you have George, Kramer, Elaine, the Costanzas, etc. These people would make you laugh just by being themselves. On Frasier, the only laughs come when someone makes a witty remark. The characterizations need to be humorous too, not just the dialogue, IMHO.

Anyway, I felt the same way about Wings when it first started, but now I generally like the show, so I'll give Frasier a chance. As for _Mad About You_, I've only seen it a few times, and while I find it generally amusing, it's nothing I would stay home for.

P.S. Does anyone else find those little titles they give to each scene on Frasier to be annoying?

Here, here! I like the titles and am impressed with the various aspects of the show that make it refreshing such as the titles and that simply strange and humorous mut! Don't know how far the show will go but it's worth seeing weekly at this point ...

I have to agree with the person who earlier mentioned that "Seinfeld" was not quite as funny this year. I guess I'm not a die-hard Seinfeld fan after all but I'm close... Saw him live last year: cried with laughter (NOTHING is EVER that funny to me.) Worth every last penny!!!

Still a fan but miss some of the charisma the show seems to have lost, LaVelle

Since I was a big Cheers fan I started watching Frasier. Some episodes had me laughing a bit, but overall I don't think it's nearly as funny as Cheers was. Frasier was one of my favorite characters on Cheers, but for some reason to me he's not as funny starring in his own show. When Cheers ended I started watching Seinfeld more. Heck, I should've started watching sooner!

At first I didn't think I'd like it since I didn't like CHEERS, but I find the character very funny and the show is even funnier. I especially like Niles and Daphne, an appropriate addition to Frasiers psyche
