Julia on Late Late Show

Just changed the channel and saw Tom Snyder interviewing Julia Louis Dreyfus. No scandals to report. She was born in NY went to all girls private school in Bethesda, was discovered at Northwestern University, worships Mary Tyler Moore, etc. etc. Missed the first bit so I am not sure what she had to say about Seinfeld and working with the cast.

Oh I guess a tidbit for you all is that sometimes they spit out the food they are eating after a take since often they have to do shots repeatedly. I hope you all think about that the next time you see Elaine eating a chip or Jerry noshing a hot dog or cereal.

Going to bed now. I started the thread so if anyone wants to fill in the gaps with more details or incisive commentary be my guest.

Yes, I saw Julia on Snyder too, but I missed the first few minutes of the interview as well. I tuned in during the call-in part of the show, and I have to say that seeing her for the first time outside her character on Seinfeld was really disappointing. She came off as self-impressed, elitist, even pompous, so people who like her as Elaine on Seinfeld (I include myself here)--be glad you didn't catch it. To the caller who asked why Elaine eats so much food, and what it had to do with her character on the show, Dreyfus flicked a big lock of hair aside and, turning the question into a compliment, said that it's because it's hard to do, that "We like to challenge ourselves on the show." Please! Otherwise, the interview (what I saw) provided little insight into how she works and what she would like to do post-Seinfeld (even though she was directly asked). We did learn, though, that she went to all-girls schools from something like 4th to 12th grade and she believes that these schools have much more to offer girls than boys. Did I miss the part of the show where she was more likable a person than the celebrity-diva-icon-goddess she came off as? Somebody please tell me I got it all wrong!

give her a little credit, eh? were you intimidated by her hair for cryin' out loud? what kind of an answer was she supposed to give? do you think there is some deep philosophical reason elaine's character eats a lot? anyway, i thought the callers were a joke and i can't believe they weren't screened better than that. who asked her about her career, all i heard were people asking about what she wore to some awards show and her hair - rather insulting i think. Perhaps she was subtlely poking fun at the ridulous (ridicurous?) questions.
