First, please stop yelling (i.e., using all caps). Thanks! :) Actually, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the word they were saying was "vast" with a accent so that it sounded like "vost". Similar to when someone with a particular accent says the word "rather", it sounds like "raw-ther". George, of course, probably didn't want to come across as ignorant, and wanted to appear to be "deep", so he responded with the same pronunciation of the word "vast" to hopefully impress them.
Let's face it, his whole life is a lie! ;^}
