Just saw a rerun of Newmans first appearance in the show, and hey, it's not his voice at all !!. He said that he's going to jump from the roof. At the end he says he is going to movie. I think i saw in a Seinfeld site that it's Larry David's voice. Krammer says Newman has no job or woman and Jerry says "so why did he call you ?". Yet, we know he works as a postman for many years !?!?!?

The Newman character was only developed later, as a way to get Wayne Knight onto the show. (It's not the only such case--I believe different actors initially portrayed Jerry and George's fathers, and one was actually substituted for in the syndicated episodes.)

you know it started late. I missed the scene. I've
heard that Wayne Knight was dubbed in later, for reruns
of that episode, but evidently he's not in the reruns
