Does anyone have info on a Sein DVD? What about a soundtrack album (although I seriously doubt it)? I think a DVD would be good not just for eps but also they might have commentary and deleted scenes, etc.

Seinfeld will not be released on DVD.

There's no plans to release Seinfeld on DVD anytime soon, from what I understand. Type in 'Seinfeld DVD' in a search engine, and the only thing you'll see is an online petition to get it released on DVD. Amazing to me that it hasn't been done yet, seeing as how much crap they DO release. Oh well, perhaps someday, with a bunch of juicy extras. They did it with MASH and the Simpsons. They could easily do it with Seinfeld.

If they did provide commentary and deleted scenes, and other goodies, I think it would be worth the wait.
About MASH, I read that it contains the complete show that is usually edited down for syndication. It also has an on/off for the laugh track.

Of course it's different in Britain where the original poster is. Syndication isn't a factor and US shows are released quite quickly, indeed Friends is released immediately as the show finishes airing. 24 is another recent example. Some shows take longer to see the light of day, so far only the first 3 (soon to be 4) seasons of Frasier are available on VHS (Paramount say DVDs would be too expensive to make), the delay probably due to uncertainty over popularity especially with the 15-24 group who are big spenders. In the case of Seinfeld and a Region 2 release I suspect the problem is the lack of popularity on these shores therefore it is unlikely to sell sufficient quantities. I have a similar problem with Oz where the 1st season DVD (I believe also the 2nd season is on its way) is only available on Region 1 and I'm not keen on hacking my DVD player.

I see all these posts regarding Seinfeld on DVD. My question is why DON'T they release them on DVD?
The best excuse I've heard is because they can still pull in high syndication fees. That's all fine and good, but why not make even MORE money by ALSO releasing them on DVD?
The Simpsons and Friends (to name but two) are still in syndication and doing quite well.
I'm sure that the Seinfeld DVDs would be HUGE sellers. I'm sure there are certain markets in this country that don't offer Seinfeld in syndication at all.
There is no good reason why they don't release Seinfeld on DVD. Of course, if I'm wrong, and you can provide a good reason, I eagerly await your reply.
In the meantime I'll just have to make backup copies of my tapes, since the originals are getting old and worn out. :(
