Seinfeld's bike Klein/Cannondale/Klein switch

For all those who might have been wondering about the Klein/Cannondale/ Klein bike switch on Seinfeld this season, I have the answer.

My wife is the Manager of the 17'th top Cannondale dealer in the USA, ( Genesis Bicycles, Easton, Pa ). This past week Mr. Montgomery ( Pres., CEO of Cannondale ) picked her up in his plane and flew her to Bedford, Pa. for a tour of the factory and meetings with the product people, and this is what he told her:

Kramer/Richards is a Mountain Biker, and thought it would be neat to have the bike in the show ( we knew this ), As far as I know, Richards rides a Klein. Someone else connected with the show ( dunno who ) is also a Mountain Biker, and into Cannondales, hence the switch. Richards thought he could take advantage of the switch and asked for ( not quite demanded ) 16 top of the line Cannondales. Cannondale thought about it, but said no, and back went the Klein.

Hello, I was reading a bicycle magazine last month that had a special on this topic. They described it perfectly. I don't remember the magazine but it had a picture of Kramer on the front. Kramer rides a black Klein Rascal. In the article they stated that cannondale offered them a bicycle to hang up in the show and that kramer refused because of his favoratism for Klein.In the end Klien was notified and they had a custom Adroit made for the show. Seinfeld personally got this one. Rumor is, that they have an Adroit that is getting custom built for kramer to. p.s. If Cannondale could actually make a real aluminum bike maybe they would put one in the show. Klein

Thank you for the suggestion.. I will try to remember that, the next time the elitist Klein owners/faction put up, and keep putting up their slams against Cannondale.. I get real sick of it.. Ha ha real funny.. It might have worked only the first 100 times, but the next thousand times gets real old real quick.. For some reason, people who own Klein's seem to be in someway threatened by Cannondale's products. Every one I have talked to or had the displeasure of hearing, has this snobbish attitude about their bikes.. I don't see Merlin owners doing this to Lightspeed bikes.. Or for that matter any other brand loyalist owners, against other bikes, as rampant as this.. Yes I own a Cannondale.. No, I do not have a gripe against Klein, or any other bicycle manufacturer. Unless it is deserved (i.e. like the well known product un-support of nightsun).. Klein's are nice bikes, I just don't prefer them.. But I don't go around saying that they are pieces of shit to everyone else because of that.. This statement is very much like a one I heard in c.i.p.c.soundcard.. Something about a CD rom being able to read audio directly to a file. Someone else responding, yes it is possible with a certain Apple CD rom reader, and if they got a real computer, they would be able to do it.. (Hint: flame, flame, flame, because they didn't have an apple macintosh) I get extremely tired of these immature, childish, slanderous remarks.. It amounts to a mine is bigger than yours argument.. If you guys really need to do this.. Go into a locker room, and compare, then zip it up, and then you will know, for all the good it will do you...

In response to this stupid "Klein vs. Cannondale":

I must say first that I am a proudproudPROUD owner of a Cannondale Killer V 900, yes, just like the one on Jerry's back wall there. And to finally shut you all UP, here are my views one the plusses and minuses of each company(you can take this with a grain of salt):

Klein has many things going for it. They make a very nice bike, with high quality materials and good manufacturing. I must say that I am particularly impressed with the use of the square chainstays. The biggest problem with them, at least for the majority of the world's cyclists, is their price. I think that the price gap between Klein and Cannondales is much greater than the gap between frame quality. Also, they have a terrific pro racer in Tinker Jaurez.

Cannondales are very nice also. They don't have those super-spiffy square chainstays but they make up for it with mlighter and cheaper frames. Now you all can blitz me with whines of, "You get what you pay for" but in this case your are kidding yourselves. I must say that given the choice between a $1000 Cannondale and a $1000 Klien, I would go for the Cannondale. Cannon- dales have nice paint jobs, not quite as cool those on Kleins, and lack the what I call 'wonderment factor', or how many stares you get from pedestrians and other cyclists when you ride by, but I think that beauty is a distant second to performance and the Cannondales DO perform.
