"I can't go."

Watched "The Foundation" last night, noticed something interesting.

When Jerry called George at the Foundation meeting, he was stuck there, so he said "I can't go." It was the exact same "I can't go." that Elaine used when she was stuck buying socks for Mr. Pitt and couldn't go to Atlantic City with Jerry (The Chaperone)

Well, it was spoken with the same dejected tone.

Also noticed another tidbit.  In one outsdide shot
of the coffee shop, you can actually see the S in TOM'S
to the left of the R in RESTAURANT.  They try to avoid
letting TOM'S into the picture, 'cause we're supposed
to think it's Monk's, but they slipped last night.

When I heard that, I thought about the time Jerry wanted George to do something, and Susan had taped Mad About You. Didn't he use the exact same "I can't go" then?

The S would work for either name.

I've noticed that recurring line too, and I love it. I think the first time they used it was in the episode where George moves back in with his parents, and they're going out to dinner so George can't go somewhere with Jerry. So it was originally playing directly off that teenager-parent angle. I love how they say it--like they're choking back tears of frustration but want to act like they're okay.
