Melanie Chartoff

Just a few observations about the 5 May episode ( what was the title?).

Although they had no scenes together, Michael Richards and Melanie Chartoff (Robin) used to be on ABC's SNL clone _Fridays_ in the late 70s - early 80s. Chartoff later played the principal in FOX's _Parker Lewis Can't Lose_.

Also, I know there's been lots of bandwidth used talking about whether Seinfeld is worth watching anymore and I thought the first half of the show was gonna give the naysayers more ammo. The last half reminded me of why I'm always there on Thursday nights. Not only was I OTF, I was hurting while Kramer described how he got the severed toe to the hospital. Hey, IMO Seinfeld is still so much better than anything else out there.

Went out last night for dinner with a couple who are good friends, and the subject of the last Seinfeld episode came up. It turns out that the guy in the couple used to date Melanie Chartoff, and he had to try conceal the actress' identity to his girlfriend, who has a tendency to be jealous, while they were both watching the episode.

Sounds like the beginning of a Seinfeld script ...

One of the few times that I genuinely laughed almost uncontrollably was in the fake breast episode (also home of the infamous double-dip incident), when George insisted on switching seats with his girlfriend. When he gets up and pulls on her, and then he grabs her right butt-cheek and shoves her over, I was gone. It was just so George and he didn't seem to think anything of it.
