I don't mean to offend anyone, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed that in some episodes Jerry sports pretty tight pants and a rather big bulge.

I wonder, did word ever get back to Jerry about this? Did anyone ever mention to him that his display was a little, well, promintent?

Ahh, what was I expecting from questions like mine anyway? Intelligent answers?

If people don't see the humor in what I wrote it's because they're too bound up in their own guilt and shame about sexuality.

I just think it's funny that Jerry was accepted by mainstream America, which has so much guilt about sexuality, and Jerry was embraced as sort of their "poster boy," and "unexceptional joe average," and yet he was sporting a tight pair of pants all along with a more noticable bulge than we ever saw on, say, Tony Danza (who was supposed to be the typical stereotype of "sexy Italian").

Jerry's imagine, in constrast to that of a sexy leading man, was somewhat devoid of any of the characteristics associated with overt male sexuality. He was not "macho." And yet that bulge, or "basket," spoke otherwise. I find the contradiction interesting, and I was wondering if anyone ever brought it up to Jerry, "Hey, Jerry, your, um, this display of your big bulge sort of flies in the face of your joe-average/Middle America/eternal adolesence image." Somehow, I bet no one ever said that to Jerry . . . but, as a few here have mentioned, others /have/ noticed that basket.

So, to wrap it up, this overt masculine - manly! - display seems to stand in contrast to Jerry's image in the show as a sort of momma's boy who never will grow up. This bulge would've seemed more in line with, say, Ted Danson's character on "Cheers" or Tony Danza, uh, whatever show that was that he did.

Thanks.

Gee, who would have thought some people would take such offense?

Me asking if anyone else had noticed, though, was sort of dump because as Jill has mentioned, she has talked to her friends about it. Someone else here mentioned that there is even an official word for it ("basket"). If someone went to the trouble to make an official word for it, then they must've noticed it.

It's just the human body people. And the more technical term, the medical term for it (i.e., "penis"), is used on the show itself several times. How can people be fans of a show that talks about "shrinkage," masturbation, and has a scene where Jerry's penis plays chess with his brain, and be offended by this silly question?

"It's like my brain is in a chess match with my penis," Jerry says in that episode.

And Jerry was basically "baiting" this questions about his "basket" by wearing the tightest pants to ever grace prime-time.

Um... HUH?

Why are you replying to messages which were posted SIX YEARS ago? In case the dates on the messages didn't clue you in, the Google archive groups together all messages with the same subject in the same newsgroup. Just because you used the same subject as a thread from 1996 doesn't mean those those people back then were responding to your thread from the present, see... :-)

Here's the original thread from 1996, for anyone else confused by Brazil Fan's response: http://groups.google.com/groups?threadm=328D8A66.5F5B%40concentric.net

I think there actually may be something here (regardless of the age of the post). Can you think of another way in which Jerry possibly could've gotten that actress' phone number in a time as short as an elevator ride? She a had a pretty big smile on her face...

That's true, Jerry DOES go through a lot of beautiful women in the show. Which, again, stands in contrast to his "eternal adolescence" image on the show and off.

This is something about Jerry: there's more to him than meets the eye.

I'm sure mention of his "basket" got back to him on some occasions. A friend of mine had noticed it as well. I'm sure several people had. And, again, it's just funny that it was on someone who is basically playing the role of a goofball, as opposed to someone who was playing a "stud," like Ted Danson in Cheers, or Matt LeBlanc in Friends.

No way! Matt is the stud of Friends. He is the "Italian Stallion." There are endless references to him doing is "so, how YOU doin'?" to girls, and them turning to jelly. There are endless references to him "bedding" women. Remember how scared Ross gets when he realizes he is in competition with Joey for a woman.

Phoebe is the Kramer of "Friends."
