In this episode, it came up that Jean-Paul missed a race at the olympics because he overslept. When trying to figure out why, Jerry speculated that he hit the snooze button, and it never came back on. Has this ever happened to you? Anytime I've overslept due to an alarm is either the AM/PM setting, volume too low, radio station off the air, power failure, or it just didn't wake me up because I was just too tired (or the sound just didn't disturb my sleep!)

Just curious, I'd never heard about the snooze button problem before, except for the 90 previous times I've watched this episode, of course! :-)

Jerry: (pause) So what happened? The snooze alarm, wasn't it?

Jean-Paul: Man, it wasn't the snooze. Most people think it was the snooze, but no, no snooze.

Jerry: AM/PM.

Jean-Paul: Man, it wasn't the AM/PM. It was the volume.

Jerry: Ah...the volume.

Jean-Paul: Yes, the volume. There was a separate knob for the radio alarm.

Jerry: Ah, separate knob.

Jean-Paul: Yes, separate knob. Why separate knob?! Why separate knob?! (frustrated)

Jerry: Some people like to have the radio alarm a little louder than the radio.

Jean-Paul: Oh, please, man, please!

I've never seen a clock radio with a separate knob for the alarm volume either, but then I've only had 2 clock radios in my entire life.

In older models, the snooze button would sometimes stick in the "down" position- thus putting the clock in permanent "snooze" mode. This has happened to me and it's what I envision happening to Jean-Paul, that poor son-of-a-bitch.

That episode is a little difficult to believe...

If the race was really that important, they could of had three (other) different wake up guys call, multiple electric/battery-powered alarm clocks and one of them could of stayed up all night just to make sure he was awake for the race...

Yes, I know, then there wouldn't be a plot - I'm just saying...

They could have done that or they could have done something else but they would not have had a plot if he would have woken up in time. ;-)
