Kramer Entrances Applause

Sorry if I'm bringing up an old discussion- Why were the applause at Kramer's entrances to the apartment stopped after some time?

Maybe they realized that it was very corny and Married With Children-y. I can understand applauding for a special guest star but applauding for a regular character seems kinda stupid.

Funny you should bring this up Dave. This is one of the defining moments that the authors of jumptheshark bring up about the demise of Sienfeld. Basically, they say if the producers had continued to allow applause during Kramers entrances, the show would;ve flopped ! That may be a bit much I think, but funny nonetheless!
