Fans discuss Jason Alexander's appearance in the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie, noting a line that references Robert DeNiro's famous Taxi Driver quote.
Jason Alexander was on Letterman tonight and they showed a clip of Jason's new movie, Rocky and Bullwinkle. The former "Seinfeld" cast member's caracter, Boris, is talking to some big leader guy. This leader dude says, with a slight sccent "are you talking to me? you must have been talking to me 'cause I'm the only one here" hahah that sounds strikingly similar to Cedric and Bob....
Just thought I'd throw that out to y'all Anyone seen the movie?
Actually, it's more like Robert DeNiro making fun of his Taxi Driver character, who made that line famous.
Early 'net buzz said Rocky and Bullwinkle was supposed to rock, more current reviews say it sucks, but overall, I think it got mixed reviews. I'll probably check it out just for Alexander and DeNiro. I like the old R&B- but an hour and a half of it?
By the way, anyone tape Letterman? I had it set up, and when I got home from the A's game I caught like the last two minutes when Alexander was on. Of course it was then that I noticed that someone messed with the programming and I didn't get a thing... That's a shame.

Fearless Leader is played by Robert DeNiro, who made the line "You talkin' to me?" famous in the movie "Taxi Driver."

Rocky and Bullwinkle wasn't too bad... It wasn't too great, either. If you like the original show, you'll probably like the movie. Though I think they should've made Fearless Leader, Boris and Natasha computer generated as well. Alexander was, well, as good as Alexander could be playing Boris. For a movie that wasn't trying to be very serious, it really wasn't very serious. Rent it if you're an R&B, DeNiro, Alexander or Rrrrrrrrrrusso fan; don't spend the $8.50.
The joke has been way over-used though, both in DeNiro movies and non-DeNiro movies...

Honestly, I gave it one star in my review, and I haven't given a movie one star in a while (I use the four star rating system...so one's bad)...
The main problem with the movie was the jokes just didn't work...They tried the same Rocky and Bullwinkle humor as the show, but they did it wrong...the great thing about the cartoon was even when a joke was corny, and mostly they all were, they were one note jokes, gone about as quickly as they were said...You didn't have time to think "that was bad," you only had enough time to laugh and move on...
The movie gives you thinking time...it leaves space in between jokes...that space is bad. It leads to "that was bad" thoughts...
as for the cast...Rene Russo was okay, she fit the role...and frankly, other than Russo, Rocky and Bullwinkle, no other cast member worked...Alexander, who I wanted to like here (good old George, who doesn't want to like him?), just didn't fit the role...It just didn't work...and as for De Niro, what can you say, his career will survive past this...still, I hope he received a big check for his role, otherwise the only other way to explain his being in this movie is that he's gone completely insane...
I have to say, of course you should see the movie to judge it for yourself, my opinion may differ than yours, but if you want my honest opinion...avoid this movie at all costs...Don't pay the $10 to see it in a theater...or the $5 to see it in a matinee show...or the $2 to rent the video or DVD when it comes out...just avoid it...

I should tell you that wasn't my "official" review...it was a sum up of what I thought of the movie (yes, a review), but I never actually wrote a full review for the movie...main reason is because I only write reviews for movies I have in my DVD collection...I know, sounds crazy, but then I'm half crazy (and half Italian)...
Just had to say that...my feelings for the movie remain the same though...it stinks!
