Question of reference to what in Jon Voight car episode

I was wondering what was Kramer's nosebleed sequence on the bus with Jerry at the end was referring to. Was that a parody of some famous movie or show. I didn't get it. Please let me know if anyone knows. Thanks.

it was from "Midnight Cowboy" ,a Jon Voight film which i have not personally seen but...Ya know? "Midnight Cowboy" was also noted earlier in the episode. Take it eas'.
