I think it adds to his character. He obviously notices the humour in the jokes, and unlike the others, (George and co., not Jason and co.) he can't help but laugh. Afterall, the guy's a comedian, I don't think we can expect him to never laugh at anything. Heck, he ends up making fun of most things...
