The real question is who is playing the sampled bass patch. In other words, it is not a bass player, but a keyboard player playing a damn good sample of a funky bass. Even the people at Rec.music.bass agree.

There is an actual band called "Jerry's Kids" that plays the song before and after each recording of the show. There is a stage behind the audience.
