It has occurred to me since posting this message, that I wasn't quite clear on my description of "George's parents."
The parents appearing with Jason Alexander on the recent Annual Comedy Awards Show were _not_ his TV parents. He introduced them as his real parents.
I feel much better having cleared that up. (I don't have much of a life)
