Unfunny Seinfeld Characters..

I hardly ever find Jerry's parents (Morty and Helen, I think) funny. They are bearable at best. Whereas The Costanzas, Frank and Estelle, they don't even have to say anything to have me rolling on the floor! Poor George, no wonder he turned out how he did! Serenity NOW! Any opinions? What are your fave Costanza moments?

Definitely...The Costanzas are a riot.

George's parents are too funny! However, I can't stand him.

The humor of Jerry's parents is more subtle than the others. People don't have to be jumping around, screaming and making funny faces to be funny.

Good comment. I am not Jewish nor grew up with any but at PSU I knew very mnay. And alot of things I find funny I never would have understood with out the experience of knowing Jewish people. I agree. Jerry Stiller makes me LOL whenever he's on screen. And you're right, he doesn't even have to say anything.

I like the bit in "The Raincoats (1)" where Estelle is getting upset about Morty and Helen snubbing them, and George is mirroring her arm movements as she does the "what's wrong with us?" bit.

The whole Festivus thing with Frank ("He invented a holiday? He's so prolific!!!!") is probably my favourite. Oh, and the time he tries to explain to George about bras is pretty damn funny too. :-)

Susan is the most unfunny character in all of Seinfeld...but that was by design so I can't really complain.

Morty was great going on and on about the raincoat, the "executive". I love Jerry's mom when she treats him like a baby... "Yay! Jerry got it open!"

Frank and Estelle, on the other hand, are almost continously funny. Perhaps my favorite Costanza family moment is at the dinner table. In the episode where Frank sets up an interview for George with Phil Kasakoff, the bra salesman and asks Estelle to get a bra. "What's going on in there? You ask me to get a pair of underwear, I'm back in 2 seconds."

Phil who? The bra salesman was Sid Farkus. Sounds like you might be thinking of a cross between Phil "He took *it* out." Totola and Ned "I'm dating a Commie." Isakoff.

Frank did talk about Phil Casacof/Kasakoff. Sid Farkus was Phil's boss.

Frank: So, I talked to Phil Casacof today. Estelle: Phil Casacof? Frank: Yeah, you know my friend, the bra salesman. He says they are looking maybe to put somebody on so I got you an interview next friday with his boss.

What about the time George found Susan in the video store with "another" woman and--don't recall the context here--we get this exchange:

GEORGE, in near-exasperation: "Who do you think you're talking to?"

SUSAN, confidently: "I know who I'm talking to."

GEORGE, giving in: "Of course you do."
