Wondering why Seinfelkd isn't on DVD?

I'm sure you all are wondering why it's not on DVD? Here's an explanation from a very reliable DVD source I have:

"Castle Rock Entertainment produced the show. At the time Columbia Tri-Star owned the show, but then Warner Brothers took back all the stuff made by Castle Rock Entertainment. Huh? Its gets more complicated. Some of the studios who worked with Castle Rock Entertainment do not want to relinquish rights to Warner. But Warner did admit that Jerry Seinfeld commissioned special DVDs for the cast and crew that contains epsiodes voted by the cast and crew as their favorites. Currently Warner Brothers is working with Columbia Tri-Star(they have a good record) and Castle Rock Entertainment to at least get the OK to release the show."

If you understand it, there you go. If not, don't ask me to explain.

I think this "DVD" thing is pretty simple to understand if you look at the money side of the deal. The series is OVER, no more new shows, no "We'll be back in one year!" Jerry and his associates "only" have the syndication rights to generate money. SEINFELD is always in the top 5 (usually top 3) of syndicated (rerun) comedy shows. Later this year Ted Turner (thru Time/Warner?) takes over syndication rights which he paid a high price for a few of years ago. Once those rights run out a new deal might be made- MORE money to be made. Result- Do not release the show on VCR or DVD. Yes maybe a few of the most popular shows -( I read on this board that there was a box set of SEINFELD shows released in Europe & maybe Austrailia a few years ago, but only a few shows). I believe it was close to 10 years before MASH started to appear in "box sets" and you had to buy a certain number at a time and not individual shows. This was done because the reruns of MASH had saturated the air waves and the value of the reruns would not be hurt by releasing the tape or DVD's. Maybe in 5 ot 9 years we will see the complete run of SEINFELD being made available. That's the bad news- the good news is the quality will be great and we will get "uncut" episodes INCLUDING The Puerto Rican Day Show. I't just my opinion on why we will not see complete , AUTHORIZED DVD sets of SEINFELD in the near furture.
