Subject: Costanza - mystery solveed (?)

A week ago there was a thread as to whether George was Jewish or not. One of the common thoughts was why would a situation comedy go out of it's way top give him a non Jewish name if he was Jewish.

Well on Jan 28th I went to see the Conan O'Brien show. I was down in the lobby lined up by the NBC store. A window was dedicated to the Seinfeld show. They even sell a picture of the Kramer (and a puzzle of it too). Besides the hats and sweatshirts one T-Shirt stood out. A photo of George with the caption "Can't Stand Ya!"

That's what his high school Phys Ed teacher called him in an early episode having to do with the library, overdue books, etc.

That's the nickname Mr. Hayman gave to George. I can see how you get Can't Stand Ya from Costanza, but I doubt you could come up with Costanza from Can't Stand Ya.

Can't Stand Ya is from an ancient episode. Jerry gets a fine from the NY public library for not returning the book Tropic of Cancer (or was it Capricorn??) he borrowed in high school. The show does all kinds of flashbacks to Jerry, Kramer & Geo's high school days and we find out the gym teacher called Geo "Can't Stand Ya" Great episode--Kramer frolics with the librarian, the gym teacher is now a homeless guy living near the NY public library and carries said book in his grocery cart of stuff. A classic.

Sorry, but this makes no sense. Being Jewish is a religious think, not
a nationality. The above makes as much sens as saying "George's dad
is half-Catholic, half-Italian"
I'm sure there are plenty of Jews that live/have lived in
Italian. This is not intended as a flame, just as a way of explaination.
For example, personally, I'm Jewish, half-Russian, and half-German.
with this knowledge, I think it's fair to say that George is Jewish
and he is at least half-Italian. (Since his mother plays Mah-Jong and
she's not Chinese - I would say that she is definitley Jewish).
