Hi, does anyone know what the significance of the amount of money Jerry gave to Elaine in episode 14, The Deal? Why did he give her such an odd amount of money $182.00 for her birthday, and George exactly 1/2 of that $91.00?

I dont know if this has been posted before, as I am new to this msg board.

Thanks for any help.

Jerry agonized over what to give her & what message it might send. SOMEHOW he came to the conclusion that it should be cash and it should be $182.00. While Jerry was searching for a present for Elaine, George was helping him. Jerry rejected all of George's ideas BUT made the point that a friend's gift to a friend's girlfriend should be 1/2 as valuable as the gift from the boyfriend. Thus the $91.00 from George to Elaine.
