Viewers give mixed reactions to the episode, with some praising the elderly characters' restaurant scene but others finding the humor offensive and the portrayal of aging stereotypical and depressing.
I liked the scene at the end where the two old guys were in the restaurant together talking the way that Jerry et al. do -- that was really unexpected for me.
On the other hand, as soon as they tried to call Mr. Fields' apartment and got a busy signal, I knew what was going to happen.
I felt really let down after watching the 2/18 show. I think I smiled maybe twice during the whole thing -- it just wasn't funny and on top of that there were several things I found offensive.
I agree with the person who noted the older characters were stereotyped and negative -- depressingly so, not humorous at all. I was turned off by George's hammering away at his guy about how the guy should be depressed about being so close to death -- I thought -- "Let up on it. Okay?" And, somehow, I couldn't imagine Elaine being so OBVIOUS about her disgust (or so disgusted for that matter) at her woman's goiter. The whole show was just a downer. Maybe it was my mood. I'm feeling depressed right now just writing about it.

I took it all as a mockery of how young people don't know how to act around old people, and not a mockery of old people at all. This was most clearly shown with George and his "assignment". George was clearly made out to be the idiot there, as he always is.
Now I thought Elaine's reaction was *perfect*. It's very realistic to be so shocked that you take a while to "get it together". I'm sure Elaine didn't even realize she had that shocked expression at first.
It certainly wasn't one of the better Seinfeld's, but I still thought it was good. Again, you have to laugh at George, Elaine and Jerry, rather than the older folks.
