As I remember (and I only remember the reference, not whose number it was) it had letters in it, something like KL5-3321, as an example. In this case, `K' and `L' which are the letters I recall, happen to correspond to 5. Anyone else?

Actually it was KL5, not AL5. (They sound the same, but KL5 translates to 555, and that's what they always use.)

One more thing: Jerry lives in apt. A5. (in case anyone cares).

You're right, and I must be deaf. That makes a lot more sense.

But here's something to think about: I just watched 'The Big Salad' where Elaine gives out Jerry's number to avoid the stationary guy... In this episode his number is KL5-2390!
