New guy, question

Yo, first post here.

I didn't start watching Seinfeld till about 3/4th the way through the last season. But ever since then I've been watching the syndication on KLTA Channel 5. I have to say it's easily among my top 5 favorite TV shows, but I'd really have to sit and think to come up with the others from that top 5. =)

Anyhow, so I've been watching for quite a bit. I've noticed lately they've been showing a few shows I hadn't seen before. By Kramer's hairstyle, I'd judge they'be be around Seasons 1 and 2.

One thing that seriously freaked me out was an episode that was on maybe earlier this week or maybe last week. In either case, Morty Seinfeld was present, but it wasn't the usual Morty Seinfeld!! Was this the pilot or something? I can't think of any other reason for them to swap actors!

Jerry's dad was originally played by: Phil Bruns. He appeared in only one episode, The Stakeout, which was the first episode broadcast after the original pilot (Good News Bad News). Phil Burns was then replaced by Barney Martin who played Jerry's dad for the rest of the entire series.

A similar change in casting occurred for George's dad, Frank Costanza. Originally played by John Randolph in The Handicapped Spot, he was replaced by Jerry Stiller. . However the scene with Randolph was retaped with Jerry Stiller for syndication so he was seen only in the original broadcast.

To go a bit further a similar thing happened with Newman, played by Wayne Knight. When we first meet Newman in The Revenge, it is only from a voice off camera. In the original episode the voice was supplied by Larry David. After Wayne Knight was hired for the role they retaped his voice in that scene for syndication.

in the fist two (I think episodes) morty was played by phil burns in episode two. Barney martain didn't come in till episode seven. they did one better by reshooting the handicap spot with jerry stiller for the syndication. George's dad is played by Joh randolph in episode 60 the handicap spot
