I strongly urge everyone to pick up a copy right now. It tells the history of the show, has a complete reference of all the phrases used, has a short biography of the characters (Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer), and an episode listing for the first 60 shows, each with synopsis and guest stars. I think if you're a real fan you should have one of these, if you don't then you should be put in a bubble. I mean for $4.95, how can you go wrong! jOhn - dark and disturbed
Seinfeld Companion
Fans discuss an unofficial Seinfeld companion book, with strong enthusiasm for its content and value at $4.95, though one poster questions its quality given it lacks official licensing.
I disagree. I got the book for free and I still feel bad owning it. It is written poorly. It's tone is smarmy at best, it strays from the topic of seinfeld in several areas, the photos are the worst I've seen in a published book (they look like they were scanned from a tv guide or something), and I suspect that there are many errors in it. Save your money, the book stinks.

Well Mr Smarty pants, if you notice on the back cover they wrote something pertaining to this. In this little box it states:
This book has not been prepared, approved, or
licensed by any entity that created or produces
Seinfeld.I mean cummon, that's why they call it "An Unofficial Guide to TV's Funniest show," maybe that's why it doesn't live up to you standards. jOhn - Master Packer

When one writes in sentence fragments...
When one types as fast as one can as part of one's job, and then goes home and uses usenet on something less capable than a word processor, typos and spelling errors get through. But you are probably right...my degree in English with a concentration in writing and my other degree in Communications with a concentration in Journalism, and my job as a Technical Writer probably haven't prepared me to comment on someone else's grammar...or indicated to me how and when to use possessives. There is a big difference between making mistakes while informally communicating on the Internet, and making them on something that is going to be published. That is why people usually don't comment on grammer and spelling mistakes in other people's postings...you don't seem to subscribe to that notion. You are going to be real busy if you keep with this hobby. Thank's for pointin' that out ya' J'erk?"

I'm not too sure, but in this episode I believe I heard Elaine say 'Sh*t'. It happened when she and Jerry visited the Russian author. After the author grabs her purse, Elaine says something like 'You sh*t, give me my purse!' Look at the expression on Jerry's face when she says it.
Was I the only one to catch this, or is this all part of my imagination?
Except that in my case, I have an entire printed book called the Seinfeld Companion to warrant a gratuitous criticism of poor writing...in your case you only had a typo from an informal communication. But thanks for spending your time deciding when and when not to bother pointing out bad grammer in this newsgroup.
^^^^^^^ Oops. :)

You are rather condescending in your evaluation of poor writing... since the original post, you have also stated:
and
one.
Yeah, I think a little criticism of your posts is warranted. David Schrag has attended to your latest typos, so I won't bother.
I think the reason his critisisms are poor is due to the major lack of specific problems with the companion. jOhn
Go back and read my original posts for the specific problems instead of assuming that there never were any. I guess I will have to read the book again to come up with more proof to everyone that the book isn't worth the paper that it is printed on.
That's not condescending on my part, it is a matter of fact...read the book before you judge my criticism. Also, this newsgroup is not about me, and my habit of not seeing the need to correct typos within my posts...it is about Seinfeld (and apparently Helen Hunt). So don't not bother attending to my typos because the other guy did...don't attend to my typos because it would be stupid to. I don't care, and as I have stated before...this medium is INFORMAL. I catch typos as part of my career...I don't see the need to do it in my leisure time as well.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. It could have happened a little less obtrusively, but I was typing fast, and don't really feel the need to watch spelling or grammAR for the purposes of posting. But what excuse would The Seinfeld Companion give for their poor efforts?
I think anyone with a frontal lobe and some paper could write a better one.
Not to bring up this topic again but, if you want to see nice, big, colorful pictures from the show, buy the 1994 Seinfeld Calendar. The only problem I have with it is that the pictures don't go with what they're saying. But that's kinda particular; it's nice to look at. jOhn - Hipster Dufus
The book doesn't live up to my standards because it is bad in every aspect of the word. Just because it is unofficial doesn't give it the right to be a half-assed attempt at something otherwise helpfull and entertaining.
