John Cheever et al

Could someone tell us who John Cheever was? Add another $429 to Jerry's total. It's really starting to add up. It was nice seeing some Twin Peaks actors on Seinfeld. Does anyone see any subtext going on there?

We had the same problem in our area with our NBC affiliate. I guess it was a "network difficulty" when the Johny Carson line was used :-)

I don't think our Canadian signal had that difficulty. Is all this talk about the line where George said "weird, wild, wonderful" (or whatever it is that Johnny Carson would say)? That was neither particularly funny, nor controversial, so maybe there's something else we didn't get at all?

Ah ha! So the Carson-Castro connection does not extend beyond the U.S. borders. I do not recall George using the triple W (as it's known to conspiracy insiders). Thank you for revealing what most of us Americans were deprived of hearing.

One theory: the triple W is the international signal that Johnny is out of Cuban cigars. It was felt that using the secret signal while actually mentioning Cuban cigars (and on Johnny's network) would draw too much attention to the 'connection' and possibly tip off the feds. Therefore Johnny had the the NBC satellite feed jammed throughout the US and Cuba (Fidel is a big Kramer fan) during the triple W (and a couple other times, to make it look like local cable problems).

John Cheever was an American writer of novels and short stories depicting mostly upper-middle class suburban northeastern types. He died several years ago, leaving behind journals revealing lots of homosex inclinations and experiences.

I played back the tape a few times to try and figure out what Jerry said to make George squirt the ketchup (so to speak) but I couldn't figure it out. I'm not sure he was saying anything really, but I thought I'd check. I remember an episode last season where Elaine would mutter something under her breath and Jerry would say "what did you say?" and she'd say "oh, nothing", but if you played back the tape and listened carefully, she sayed things that the censors would not be happy with. I thought maybe a similar thing was going on last night, but it didn't seem like it.

I thought the whole point was that you WEREN'T supposed to hear what Jerry said. That it was so dirty that only George could hear it, and not the sensitive ears of the viewing public. :) And judging by the ketchup reaction (one of the best moments of the show), it was pretty dirty!

	talking about. I caught the similarity on the episodes when they
	were in California, but since then I have missed some of the
	obscure references to TP. Who was a fan of TP and sees more

Yep, it almost seemed like a reunion of the Hayward Supper Club! :-)

'Seinfeld' sure gets some familiar guest stars. Let's see, in this season alone we've had guest appearances from Laura Palmer's mother, Donna Hayward's father, Frank Fontana's father and Joel Fleischman's ex-girlfiend...

I thought the most hilarious moment of this episode was George and that ketchup bottle...
