Inconsistency - The Pitch

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but in The Pitch, Kramer suggests Jerry do a sitcom about The Circus (with freaks) and he wants to be in it. Doesn't this conflict with his fear of clowns? In The Slicer Elaine threatens him with just going to the circus.

Nope. Kramer never said that he wanted to be in the "Circus" sitcom. He wanted to be in "The Show About Nothing", and he only said that because Jerry insisted on having a character based on him.

The inconsistency was with a different episode. The one where (sorry I dont rmember the episode names) Kramer 'passes a stone'. Wasn't Kramer at the Circus with Jerry and his girlfriend at the time?

Yes Kramer was at the Circus but I don't think it is an inconsistency... When Jerry, his girlfriend and Kramer are backstage you can see Kramer having a weird reaction when he sees the clowns...

I am pretty sure that 'The Pitch' was after the episode which featured Kramer being scared of Joe DaVola being dressed as a clown. So the chances are that the writers had established his fear of clowns at this time.

The Pitch was episode #43, The Opera was #49.

The Opera was the first mention of Kramer's fear of clowns. When he was talking to Devola dressed as a clown it went like this:

JD: You ever been to the circus? K: Yeah, when I was a kid. Was kind of scared of the clowns though. JD: are you still scared of clowns? K: yeah.

Maybe the sitcom idea was ok because they would not
have used real clowns, only actors DRESSED as clowns?
