CYE question

I just saw what i think is the first CYE, kind of a mockumentary of Larry's return to stand-up, preparation for an HBO special, and it was so goddamned hilarious i cant tell you how hard i laughed. probably as hard if not harder than the funniest moments of last season, which is when i picked up on the show. So is what I just saw the first episode, or just a 'special'? A pilot? Where do the next ones leave off from, and what is the chronology between this special and when the first full season actually is shown?

Yes, the mockumentary you saw was the pilot for the series.

I don't think it tied into the first full season at all -- though I love the series and hope for a dvd release soon (with extras please).
