Stolen Statue?

In the episode where Jerry's statue is seemingly stolen by his house cleaner, did he really steal it? I always thought he didn't steal it, but why does he get nervous when asked about it? He says "Rava doesn't kow where I got it" yet he seems genuinely insulted to be accused of stealing it. Can anyone shed light on this? -Bob

I got the impression that the "Rava doesn't know where I got it..." and an offer to meet with Jerry to talk about it, was a way to allow him more time to cook up this big lie about the whole thing.

There was no question to me that he took it. His reaction to Kramer pretending to be a cop was as if he was being caught.

Consider for a moment there is no doubt he took it...Why did he take it? I think he took it cause he felt he could get away with it, knowing that since Elaine had a promotion riding on her relationship with Rava, that Jerry would just let it go. I think him actually displaying it in Rava's apartment was a way of rubbing their nose in it.

What seems to really be out of place, is how this guy and Rava are a couple. She comes across like she wouldn't even talk to a guy or acknowledge he was even in the room the way he speaks with all that, "Jerry the First...Lord of the Manner, etc." Certainly these are things borrowed from literature which might make for a common interest with him and Rava (her being a writer), but he seemed a little too bright and upbeat, although in a creepy sort of way.
