Jerry's rent

Was it ever mentioned how much Jerry's rent is. I think I remember in "The apartment", there was a rent controlled apartment in Jerry's building for $400, that Elaine was going to take. But I don't remember any episode mentioning what the regular rate would be. Anyone know?

I remember reading an article while in a doctor's waiting room, People magazine, or some crap like that. Anyway, the short article was about TV shows, namely sitcoms based in NYC, and other big cities. Actually, it may have just been a chart, not a full article....regardless, it showed what the rent would be on the various tv apartments, based on the neighborhoods they purported to be in, the size, etc, and showed what each tv character probably made from their tv jobs, and nobody even came close to being able to afford their places. I remember Seinfeld and Mad About You were on there, can't remember the rest...

How do they get away with this?

When George had to give that sad story of his life to be considered for an apartment in a building, he was appearing before a committee in the building. Is that normal to do that? I know the punch line of it ended with the guy who dated Elaine getting it for slipping the building super $50.00. But I was wondering if that was realistic too. I can't recall if that was to rent an apartment in that building or he was trying to buy a condo there. I get the feeling it was to rent an apartment but the committee reminds me of what I have heard about condos.

Some apartments in NYC are rent controlled, so he could have paid less than the market rate to live in such a place. The apt in the same building as Jerry's that Elaine was after, it was rent controlled, but I don't recall if they mentioned if Jerry's apartment was rent controlled.

They built the buildings to go hand in hand with a luxury hotel to be built there for some conference that never happened, or something like that. No, but I saw a great quicktime VR 360 on the official seinfeld pages, of the set, and the production setup on the other side, so you could see into the apartment, and then see what the gang saw whilst acting. I have it saved locally, perhaps in some deep, dark, depraved section of my hard disk.

Personally, I like levels.

I like the casting episode where the guy who they pick to be Kramer goes through the dialogue of the Levels.

I like the argument, about what the bet was, and how not wanting to do it was different to not actually doing it.

Aside fomr the reverse peephole, and when Kramer sets up the Merv Griffin set, do we ever see his apartment ? Of course, the hot tub.. with the Carl Farbman (ok that sounds less offensive.. =) drawers. And the Smoking club as well.

But we dont get a real idea of it.

Possible inconsistency, Kramer tells Jerry he doesnt have a table... when he is sorting change... at any time previous to this, are we shown the hint of a table?

"Why are we in Jerry's apartment?"

"Well I like the more formal atmosphere, you know, with the furniture" (bad quote)

But Kramer has a couch and coffee table when the super looks through the peep hole.

And why the hell is he brushing his chest hair? I thought you werent supposed to poke around down there?
