Shows That Make People Go "Huh?"

How about a list of those obscure TV shows that you loved, but never quite caught on. You know, the one you mention in conversation that no one's ever heard of, or you see an actor in some mainstream (successful) TV show or movie and you say, "Hey that's___________from____________" and your friends look at you like you have three heads. Feel free to give a short description of the show and any known stars who were in it.

(In no order. I'm guessing on the years they were on.)

"When Things Were Rotten".(early 70's) Mel Brooks' Robin Hood spoof that far preceeded "Men In Tights." Dick Gauitier (sp?) played Robin (I believe).

"Sports Night" (1999-2000) Before (and while) he was writing "The West Wing," Aaron Sorkin created and wrote this smart sitcom about the goings-on backstage at a "Sports Center" type of show. (Comedy Central just began reruns of "Sports Night" this month.)

"The Ben Stiller Show" Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo in brilliant sketch comedy.

"It's Gary Shandling's Show" Before the was Larry Sanders, Gary played himself in a sitcom, breaking the "fourth wall" in a way that hadn't been done since George Burns spoke to the audience on "Burns and Allen."

"Police Squad!" ABC didn't think people wanted to watch a show with so many visual gags and where the jokes came at you fast and furiously, so they cancelled it. The producers went out and made three hit "Police Squad" movies.

"Get a Life" Chris Elliott as a 30 year old paper boy who lived at home. Wackiness ensued.

'Get a Life' was very funny. I loved that guy who played Gus Borden (Bubble Boy's father in Seinfeld).

A great series called "The Newsroom" ran on the CBC up in Canada.It parodied journalism and the very station it ran on (the Canadian Broadcasting Corperation which is kinda like the BBC but with out the British accents). Anyways,it was canned because essentially it mocked the very corporation that financed it, the suits found it annoying i guess. The show itself was was very similar to Seinfeld, as it reflected Woody allen like influences, but it was way darker and more cynical.
