Agreed; it's sunk to the level of "Just Shoot Me" and NBC's other formulaic comedies, more silly than funny. Kramer scared of downtown? Who turned him into such a dimwit? If anything, in the past Cosmo was a downtown, bohemian type. And George can be trivial, but all that for a nickname? The only subplot that really worked was Elaine and her beloved 212, though I wish they had gone more into why she's such an area code snob.

For all this inanity, I have to blame those two Harvard guys who succeeded Larry David; this show now has the goofy Lampoon sensibility more suited to "3rd Rock From The Sun." It may play well with focus groups, but it's decidedly not the type of series David and Seinfeld envisioned when they created the sitcom close to a decade ago. Instead of being about nothing, it's become nothing! (Compare it to the "Yadda Yadda" episode that aired in syndication here in NY tonight--a classic with strong characterization, plotlines that made sense and good jokes.)

As much as I hate to say it, Jerry's leaving at the right moment. A 1998-99 Seinfeld might have been unbearable under these circumstances.

While I agree that last night's episode wasn't very good, there have been some gems this season (the Merv Griffin episode and the frogger come to mind).

There were two good moments in last night's episode. The first was George's reflective comment on how he can't do anything with George Costanza anymore. I love it when they put this personal twist on things. The other - and I don't know if it was deliberate or not - was the semi-quote from Last of the Mohicans when Jerry yelled into the phone at Kramer - "Whatever occurs, I will find you!"

In their defense, it must be very difficult to stay fresh. Not only for the writers but for the actors as well. Nothing lasts forever. I've been thinking about the only other two tv series I watched with the same fanaticism as Seinfeld -- Hill Street Blues and Night Court. Interestingly, I didn't watch the last season of either of those shows because I thought they had become stale.

The same holds true for me for other shows. I've occasionally watched Just Shoot Me and Working -- same old, same old. A few funny lines but the episodes are so similar. There's just no imagination. Once Seinfeld is over I doubt I'll have my tv on much in prime time. It doesn't matter to me what they replace it with -- chances are I won't watch it.

I agree. I love when a joke is like this, that it makes sense on some very distant level, but the real humor comes from the fact of someone thinking it up. "Do you hate me because of my lazy eye?" Man, I almost died. How do those writers think up such nonsense?

Elaine, screaming fax tones into Kramer's ear was a fabulous Sein-moment!

I think Elaine really shines in this episode there are at least three or four great Elaine moments;

-The way she looks at Jerry when Cindy the maid leaves his appartment the first time.(she has her best smile.)

-When she walks in on Jerry and Cindy kissing and then goes..."Awrriiiighhhht!!!"

-Picking up her messages on the machine and skipping over George's between fax tones.

-Giving her phone number to a guy on the street and trying to convince him and herself that its just aregular phone number.

-Really loved the part when Kruger and the others watch G. thru the windows looking like a monkey . For a minute he reminded me of Homer Simpsons in an old episode.

-Is it just me or is Jerry"s voice cracking or like he's just had laryngitus or something.
