If you all have so much negative things to say about the show, then why don't you turn the channel and find something else. You write into this group putting the cast's every move under a magnifying glass.....how can you enjoy anything that way. This show is about humor, and silly as it may get now and then, that's the bottom line.

Justin, the criticisms are fine and part of what a newsgroup should be about. But why so many insults and lame attempts at wit by some people just because someone else has an opposite opinion?
Patricia's post was once again another of those poorly thought-out attempts to blame the "nagative" people on this newsgroup for their criticisms. I think my post pretty much pointed out the flaws of her opinion.
Well, I guess I watch it because, until I see the episode, I don't KNOW if it will be good or bad! However, I do know it's funny if I laugh at it! I didn't laugh once during "The Junk Mail," and "The Merv Griffin Show," though better, was only marginally so.
I saw the SEINFELD pilot when it first aired and have been a fan of the show virtually since its inception, so I think I'm qualified to state an opinion. Newsgroups function as a community to bring together people with different opinions. Don't you think it would be a boring world if everyone thought alike?
These are professionals being paid ENORMOUS sums of money for their work! If this work is sub-standard, we, the viewing public who are responsible for the fact that this $ is being paid to them, are certainly entitled to voice our opinions. Forums like this are read by the creative people who produce these shows, and, hopefully, they will regard well-reasoned criticism as feedback that will help them do their jobs better. After all, it's a FREE focus group of dedicated fans for them!

I hope I am not repeating what Lee said, but it appears that this group has moved to the point where there is one post after the show that says it is good, and then one that says it is bad. That evening, there are a number of posts that reaffirm the point of their argument, and attacks the other. I will admit that I have done that in the past. However, it is a completely different case when people are asking any dissenters to leave the newsgroup without the door hitting them in the ass. I have watched the last two seasons hoping that the show would be funny. However, I have found the laughs few and far between. I see that a number of people criticize each and every line of dialogue. That reason is probably because Seinfeld was, and still is one of the best sit-coms of the last decade. It is simply that some of us expect the show to maintain a similar level over the entire season. I can't speak for everybody else who is not in love with this season, but I may be to the point where the actions of these characters are no longer funny to me. I have not found many things that Kramer has done very funny since the season where they Fonzie-fied every one of his entrances. George has gone beyond the point of absurdity in his attempts to make Al Bundy look like a boy scout. Jerry has become to much of a cartoon character, and needs to get back to the point where he is often the straight man to the actions of the other three. Elaine is the only one that I have seen anything funny in the last few seasons. In conclusion, many of us watch Seinfeld, and hope for good television, but many are disappointed with the effort that the cast puts on the screen each Thursday at 9 eastern /8 central. People are often most critical of things that are important to them, so we have not abandoned the good ship Seinfeld, we are simply looking for a voyage that does not induce motion sickness.

Ouch. You've obviously mistaken me for a fair-weather, bandwagon fan. Sorry if you got that impression. FWIW, I've always admired Bobby Bo, with the Mets and the Pirates, but you're just muddying the issue here. The 'fans' who only show up to berate the players remind me of some people in this newsgroup.
I think you aught to have an opinion, one way or the other. If I'm watching a game, and I realize that I have no feeling for either team, it's on to a different game for me. And if I GO to a game, I'm not gonna take out all my frustrations in life by verbally berating a man who struck out an inning earlier.
I can understand and appreciate this comment. What I can't condone, however, is incessant posting dealing with nothing but how low the show has sunk and how bad the writing is, and how they need Larry back, blah blah blah... Those who do this have gone waaaay beyond making their point. Every single post from them deals with how they miss the glory days. How many different ways can you say the same thing?? We all recognize the position as a valid one, but, maybe it's time to move on. Surely these 'one trick ponies' can find something else to post about. Maybe. Hopefully.
I never watched Roseanne. Hated her stand up comedy (the whole 'domestic goddess' thing was ridiculous considering how physically unattractive she was) so I never watched the show. As for 3rd Rock, well, I wonder if there's anyone clouding up their ng with disappointments about how, Alas, it's just not as reality based anymore. Sigh. If only they could bring back the writers from the 1st season. Oh well.
I will say this, though. Since I've begun making liberal use of my killfile abilities,
I have enjoyed this ng quite a bit more than a few months ago.

Thankfully the creators of the show aren't panicking because a few people choose to nit-pick each character's development. I am an avid fan of Seinfeld (I base my schedule around it) and I've always found that on Jerry's worst night, he's still in the top five as far as funny shows go. And that has only occurred recently with KotH, and 3rd Rock etc coming into their own. I think that it is good to have a newsgroup where people can give their opinions, but if one or two particular people just moan and groan about every episode while longing for "the good ol' seasons", then do what I do, put them in your killfile or filter them out. Of course every now and then one slips through, but for the most part I've eliminated the people who play the same ol' bad record every time they post.
