I haven't seen this episode yet. Just a clip. Did Kramer receive this as a randomly assigned general issue plate, or did he (or someone else) select it?
I know it's just a show, but I don't think ASSMAN could be a general issue plate without the usual numbers in it. A great plate for any proctologist though.

It is not a general issue plate. It is a personalized plate. It can have anything on it (although I do not think they would allow "ASSMAN" just because it might be offensive). I believe you can have up to 8 letters on it.

He went to the DMV to get plates. I don't think they were vanity plates. When he saw them, he said they weren't his. The clerk said something like 'According to the State of New York, you're the Assman'....
The only part of that episode that makes me uncomfortable is when Kramer goes into his rant about how you should stand next to a proctologist at a party because their stories are so great. It seems really forced to me for some reason.. At least his delivery is...
