Jerry currently lives in apartment 5A, but in the show's first few seasons he lived in 3A. Was there an episode that he actually moved or did they just switch the numbers for no particluar reason? Any comments are welcomed.

Fans discuss whether Jerry moved apartments from 3A to 5A or if the show just changed the number, with some recalling an episode involving a stolen apartment door.

There was an episode where Jerry's apartment door was stolen. Really strange, since nothing inside was stolen. Kramer mentioned that no one was living in 5A, so he convinced Jerry to take the door. Initially they were going to take 5B, but the hinges were on the wrong side.

So why is Kramer living in 5B now though? Even if Jerry did take the door to 5A, Kramer's door should still read 3B.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this.I think the producers do this to see how observant we are!
I know that in the first episodes, Jerry's apartment looked quite a bit different than it does now. I always thought he just remodeled but maybe he moved up a few floors and the apartment was a little different.
On the other hand, if he did move then Kramer moved with him because Kramer has always been next door to Jerry.
