I thought the 10/17 episode was clearly another below standard episode. It "quality" was consistant with most of the other episodes this season.
On the other hand, 2 of my favorite episodes were on in syndication this week. I don't know their formal names but they can best be described as the "toilet paper" and "Indian statue" episodes. They included some of George's all-time best scenes.
I agree - the 10/17 episode was below standards. It is so obvious watching the shows in syndication that the quality is not what it used to be - could it be because Larry David has left the show???

This episode is definitely not a "classic", but it was better at least the the first two shows of the season. One strange thing they did way too much was have very short scenes back to back. I heard that transitional guitar music WAY too many times for my comfort in the show. :)
I also thought the Basic Instinct parody was a good concept, but they didn't pull it off. I kept waiting for Jerry to cross over his legs. Elaine's doctor problem wasn't well done either, and it didn't intersect with the other plotlines (although Jerry's and George's did).

You're right. I realized as soon as I sent it off. What I meant was intersecting in a way that changes the final outcome of a the other plotline(s). Now, Jerry's certainly affected George's and vica versa. Jerry's sort of affected Elaine's, although that part was weaker.

You are definetely right..the shows have not been up to the caliber that what we are used to see. Perhaps, it's time.....
