what wrong with seinfeld..

The reason why the new episodes are not up to scratch with the old ones is because the in the new episodes all the characters are required to have their own story, whereas an old episode may only have one a two story or situations occuring in a episode.

A good example is the 'handicapped spot' or 'the standard' where the group is faces a situation together, and we see how each of them react to it.

In the new episodes, each character is doing something, or has a problem, but in the time span of 30 minutes or 22 and a half minutes (excluding add breaks) each character's story isn't properly explored...

Not to mention the fact that Larry David Left the show, David & Seinfeld were the two main writers of all the greatest episodes in past seasons!!! [email]

I have to admit I enjoy most the episodes in which there are fewer plotlines to follow. I think this is one of the big reasons Jerry needed to quit. He was overseeing all these storylines, and they required more dialogue than the average sitcoms--plus, no doubt, the necessity of more last minute rewrites. The viewer might just be getting into one plot and then they shift to another story, that might not be as fun to follow. Not true. Many old episodes had separate plotlines for each character. That was one of the reasons I started watching so many years ago. In fact, it was their ability to weave four independant but interrelated plots into one show that was the main thing that drew me in.

The Standard?

I don't buy it. One of my favorite episodes ever was "The Subway" (Season 3) in which each character had their own separate adventure on the subway. Larry Charles had no trouble writing in complete plots for each character and wrapping all four plots up in 23 minutes.

What I mean is I find many of the same elements in the new episodes
that had me laughing 5 seasons ago.  I still don't see this perceived
"drop off" in quality.  I just don't see it at all.

well its there. i think the new peisodes have fallen to just ok, which isn't good for a show that was once outstanding episodes each week. i think you see the drop of fin quality, but you dont want to admot its there. its reall obvious that the show has been taken down a level so it will appeal to a bigger mass audience. but weve had this discussion of downfall in seinfeld one to many times, and i doubt any opnions will chnage.

I am wondering what Puddy said about Sein and his future work. I fell asleep during Conan.

One thing I remember is him telling how he was the voice of Superman in the Supes/Seinfeld Amex commercial.

Early critical review isn't good, but that was based on the first episode which didn't faeture Patrick. Critics who saw the 2nd episode in which Patrick is featured, thought he was the best thing about the series and the producers would be wise to beef up his part ASAP. alt showbiz gossip
