I was watching a rerun of Seinfeld this week and had to leave the house for something important. Now I can't stop wondering how it ended.

Kramer had gotten a car trunk full of golf balls from a driving range and went to the beach to hit them all into the ocean. When he got back he hadn't been able to hit them and was covered with sand which he could not get off of himself.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thinking to himself - "I must be polite! I must be polite"

I think he did hit the balls, one of which went down the blowhole of a whale, which beached itself, only to be resuced by George who was pretending to be an oceanographer - or something - to impress a girl.

Iceberg

George was pretending to be a Marine Biologist.

Wasn't that the episode that ended with them all at the diner, with George telling the story of the rescue - "It was a dark and stormy night, my friends..."

Okay. Kramer's hitting the golf balls (or TRYING to) into the
ocean. He gets back and tells Jerry that he stinks and that he only hit
one ball that went way out there. George, meanwhile, is walking with
Diane on the beach and he's telling her about octupii (he has to play up
the role of a Marine Biologist because that's what Jerry told her he
was). Meanwhile agian, Elaine is trying to get Testicoff to say that he
threw her organizer out the window because she has a tape recorder in
her purse and she needs evidence. Well, it starts making a noise and he
discovers it, then tosses it out the window, landing on that same lady
that got hit with the organizer. That's the end of this sub plot.
Next thing you see is the beach again a bunch of people standing
together looking into the ocean. Diane asks what's going on and they
tell her and George that there's a beached whale. (Larry David's voice
shouts out: "Is anyone here a Marine Biologist?") Diane tells George to
save the whale ... for her. He musters up something and heads off into
the waves. Then we see George, Kramer and Jerry sitting in the Cafe and
George is telling them the story. "I dunno if it was Divine
intervention or the kinship of all living things ... but I tell you, at
that moment, I was a Marine Biologist." Hehe. So then Elaine comes in
and sits down and George tells them about how a wave tossed him in the
air and he landed on top of the whale and could tell that something was
obstructing it's breathing. So he reaches into the blow hole and pulls
out ... a golf ball. Kramer: "Is that a Titleist?" George nodds.
Kramer: "Hole in one, huh?"
At the end there with the credits, George tells the gang that he
decided at that moment to tell Diane that he wasn't a Marine Biologist.
"She told me to go to hell, and I took the bus home." Everyone get's up
to leave and Elaine mentions to Jerry that he looks a little down. He
says that he got his laundry back. Golden Boy didn't make it. He pulls
on the shirt that he's wearing: "This is Golden Boy's son ... Baby Blue
..." Then as they're leaving you see George flailing his hands through
his hair ... "This sand!! It's everywhere!" Kramer's right behind him
and goes "yeah ..."

The End

This is one of my favorite episodes and I am sure that I won't do it justice, but will try.

You recall in the first part of the show George is telling Jerry that if he could be anything he would like to be a Marine Biologist. George is walking along the beach with his girlfried who he has told he is a Marine Biologist. They come upon this crowd of people and ask what is happening. A guy says that a whale is beached. Georges girlfriend tells George to go save the whale since he is a Marine Biologist. He wades out into the ocean. -- They then show the gang at the restaurant and George is recanting his experience. This is the part that is so funny, you have to see it to appreciate it. What it amounts to is that a wave swept George on top of the whale and he sees an obstruction in the whales blowhole. He reaches down and pulls it out. It is one of Kramers golf balls!!! If you get a chance to see the show again. The last five minutes are priceless.

This is my favorite "George" episode! The following was passed around at my work right after the episode aired:

George: "I won't lie to you, boys. I was terrified. But I
pressed on and as I made my way past
the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was
                                         divine intervention or the
kinship of all living things, but I tell you Jerry, at that moment, I was
a marine biologist!....The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an
old man trying to send back soup in a deli. I got about fifty feet out
and suddenly, the great beast appeared before me! I tell you he was ten
stories high if he was a foot!
As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "Ea-sy, big
fellow!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that something
was obstructing it's breathing. From where I was standing, I could see
directly into the eye of the great fish."
             Jerry: "Mammal."

George: "Whatever."

Kramer: "Well, then, what did you do next?"

George: "Well, then, from out of nowhere a huge tidal wave lifted me, tossed me like a cork, and I found myself right on top of him, face to face with the blow hole! I could barely see from the waves crashing down upon me but I know something was there. So I reached my hand in, felt around, and pulled out the obstruction!"

(George pulls a golf ball out of his jacket).

Kramer: "What is that, a Titleist?"

(George nods).

"Well, a hole in one."

Jerry: "The crowd must have gone wild!"

George: "Oh yes, yes. Yes, Jerry, they were all over me. It was like Rocky I. Diane came up to me, threw her arms around me, and kissed me. We both had tears streaming down our faces. I never saw anyone so beautiful. It was at that moment that I decided to tell her that I was not a marine biologist."

Jerry: "Wow, what'd she say?"

George: "She told me to go to hell and I took the bus home."
