Elaine a Goldigger

I was very disappointed that in the 2/8 episode, the Cadillac, Elaine started to put the moves on Jerry as soon as she discovered that he is more successful than she had previously realized. I always respected and admired Elaine for being a strong-willed woman who could not be 'bought' by money. In the past she may have shown some shallowness by being attracted to men by their physical appearances alone, but I never thought I'd see her want to get into Jerry's pants JUST because he started to earn mucho dinero. As a friend of Jerry's, Elaine should have shown that she was happy for Jerry's success. She should not have begun to see Jerry with $$ signs in her eyes.

I got the same impression. I was very disappointed with Elaine. Will we respect her anymore?? Why did the writers do this??

It's just another side to Elaine--she is very complex you know!

I gotta agree with you. I used to love Elaine, she was my favorite character. This season, however, she has been acting like such a bitch on many occasions. Maybe its because I've been watching Seinfeld reruns everyday these days, but the marked differences in her personality this season, as compared to seasons past, is readily apparent. In fact, the reruns juxtaposed (I haven't used that word since high school!) with the new epsiodes really highlight these changes.

Its as if when they were writing the episode they stopped and said "okay, now we need something for Elaine to do during the show" and this was all that they could come up with. I agree with this too. Elaine was my favorite character too until a couple of seasons ago, but her character has changed a lot especially this season. Like Vineet says, the sweet, mischievous and fun side of Elaine seems to have been replaced by a very bitchy side. She even doesnt look that pretty these days like she is in many of the syndicated episodes (like in that fake orgasm episode) in which she was just fabulous.

I do beleive the reference is to the 1 hour episode of last week. Elaine gushes over Jerry when she finds out that Jerry bought his parents a big flashy car. This was handled in a less-than-credible manner. It wasn't greed that flashe d in Elaine. Jerry always had money, & Elaine knew this. The look in Elaine's eyes & her demenor were more remenesient of a flaky nnew age chick than a golddigger. Gasp! It almost resembled a drug-induced no-brainer.
