I have yet been able to say an episode this season is bad, some werent that great , but this one was crap. Jerry and Lloyd Bridges was so lame. There was nothing funny about them and their back. It sucked. I laughed a little with Kramer and the cubans. Elaine and The "English Patient" was weak. George not wanting to date that girl was weird.I know he is neurotic, but it struck me as out of charachter. Am I being harsh, or is this a bad episode? I hope Im just being too critical, but what do you think?

It is indicative of this year's crop. (That is an o not an a). It seems they are trying very hard to write 'Seinfelds' but the magic is not there. There is very little honesty to the character's developed personalities. It should have been Jerry that did not like the Eng. pat. and george would do anything to get a girl like that... etc..The plots did not converge and the situations were very unrealistic. The constant references to past shows (like the two cadillacs) is a weak attempt to establish connections to the really funny syndicated episodes. (even though the two cadillac episode was not funny either). I'll stick around and hope that there will be an improvement because when it was good there was nothing like the brilliance of the older episodes. Cheers.

Now dumping episodes from previous years is weak. I almost equally hate trying to tie in oldies with the new crop but I think Jerry's slight reference to the Cadillac (just two small sentences) was a necessary statement anyone in real life would say. I would! Yes, there were some things that wouldn't happen in real life but some of the things in previous episodes have been far fetched too (especially "The Keys" wich I believe someone else noted too). All shows now have become duplicates of the shows fine chemistry so Seinfeld has found a new nitch: Exagerrating reality. Realism can only go so far, now Jerry is taking it another level in the Seinfeld way. I listened to this on the radio first before seeing it on tape and it sounded very corny but Jerry does a good enough job as a straight man to make it sane enough. Also, it only took a brief comment by Jerry to snap George out of his spacey Neil obsession. Plus, the ending was classic and it also took brilliant cuts at the whole "#1 parent" & "Worlds Greatest parent" thing. And relax if Elaine is getting a little more callous as the years go on, look how repetitive her life has been. She's always had a sarcastic side to her. I'll admit her smoking a cigar in the premier this season was very out of character and George is really the only one who has stayed the same over the years but I'm getting Seinfeld and it's damn good Seinfeld so hail to a ninth and final year come september!

Frankly, I think you're being too critical. I have yet to see an episode of Seinfeld that I didn't like in any given way, shape or form. I loved that episode, and I thought every part of it was excellent. But you're entitled to your opinion, of course. See you around the web! M. Alexander

I have never posted to this NG before but last night's ep was soooo awful (I watch every week) I just had to put in my .02 or .03 cents. The worst Seinfeld ever! I hardly laughed at all.

For some inexplicable reason, though, I had to smile whenver Elaine said the words, "Sack Lunch". Go figure.

The Cuban plot was okay until they hijacked the plane, not to mention why did they have those #1 Dad shirts? Did Kramer give them to them? George's plot had potential but really wasn't too funny the way it panned out. Lloyd Bridges' family of weight lifters got really old by the end. The best plot was Elaine and "The English Patient" because that was the most relatable. I hate it when some movie is so highly acclaimed that everyone has to love it. If I hate it, then what do I care? Still, even that got redundant.

In this episode, it's like the writers had ideas, but they didn't know how to develop them, so they made the same thing happen again and again until they could contrive a way to tie them all together.

Also, I did not like George's pulling out the IV. This is the second ending in a row that has been really mean spirited and unpleasant.

Yes! That's how I've felt about most episodes this season ... they all had potential, and/or started out good, but went downhill from there. An example that comes to mind is the one where George was going to give a scholarship to some guy.

Oh - is that what he did?! I rewinded the tape once and still couldn't tell what that was. Yuck, I agree with you! I'm sorry, but the Seinfeld characters of early seasons were not murderers and sadists, for heavens sake!

To be honest, I though the pulling-out-the-IV was just George continuing to compete with Neil. After all, Neil said something like "I win" as George was leaving the room, then George comes back in and pulls out the IV, so George would win in the end.

It seemed to me that it was the IV drip was a pain killer.

Jerry was obviously just joking with the pillow, and the Junior Mint turned out to be harmless. Earlier this season, in "The Checks" the "Doctor, I think we're losing him" line spoiled the whole episode for me--I didn't want Jerry to be responsible for Brett's death! Where was the Witchy Woman music coming from anyway? The only death on the show that I found funny was when Fulton died laughing. That was back before someone was hurt or killed every other episode like they are now.

God. You people need to get over yourselves. It is a tv show. You are supposed to laugh at the jokes. Not take them as a personal affront.

another catchy little subject. To all of you complaining about the deathtoll on Seinfeld, stop watching or enjoy the ride. Maybe Friends is more your speed.

I liked the 3/13 show too. I thought Lloyd Bridges was great in that part and the three of them in the hospital room was hilarious. I liked the T-shirt exchange with Jerry's father - he usually gets on my nerves. I thought Elaine not liking the English Patient was right on. Earlier episodes have followed on this theme. "What kind of a person won't wear the ribbon?" I think it's interesting commentary. And, Lloyd Bridges is funny! It was worth the show just to see him perform again for the tube. Andrea

What are you talking about? This was the best episode in the last couple of months! (And I use my exclamation points very carefully). It was the first time in a while that the three stories came together at the end. For those of you who did not see the English patient, the patient is bandaged exactly like Neil at the end of the show. And for the last time Seinfeld as always been mean spirited and will always be mean spirited, that's what makes it fun!

SEINFELD HAS TO KEEP A STEP AHEAD OF THE OTHERS AND THE IV PULLOUT WAS HILARIOUS! I was also stunned by Susan's death but I look back at it as a great ending that strained out all the wimps that watched. Don't mean to be too hard on you guys but I think that was sick and seinfeldish. Plus, we got classic quotes: "I could, I choose not to!"--Jerry

"The quality, the texture, the intoxicating aroma, these guys don't have it!"--Kramer

You know, I look at all of those lines, and they were really funny lines. but the episode itself just left me disappointed. i think the whole "english patient/sack lunch" storyline annoyed me the most. I notice none of the funny quotes listed above came from elaine or that part of the story. Re: the yanking of the IV line -- i thought it was a bit malicious. i'm one of those who didn't mind the "death of susan" episode, but for some reason this bothered me. when george came back into the room, i thought he was just going to take neil's cane! boy am i silly!
