Please clear up a ?

I am an avid fan of the show, but there is one part of an episode I am unclear of. It occurs in The Little Jerry. Jerry goes to his window and calls up to Kramer, that he is coming UP... Where is Kramer? Who lives over Jerry?.. Was this just thrown in for no real reason? I thought of the roof, but Kramer doesn't start tanning up there until season nine. Any ideas would be great thx Kp

I beleive in that particular scene Kramer says he has to go to Newman's and I think Jerry even said Little Jerry ran from Newman's apt to his own is 30 seconds. George asks if that is good and Jerry replies in uncertainty. Now the fact that Newman's apt is portrayed on the floor just above or atleast above some other floor above Jerry's is a mystery or contradiction. Newman is best known for being in apt 5E (although he was in a different apt in one other show.) Even if he is in apt 5E- WHY is 5e on a different floor from 5A & 5B? I know 5E is shown on the same floor when occupied by Phil, Fredo the bird's owner, but I'm sure Kramer is responding to Newman when he says "I'm coming up!" I hoper thisclears up your question but I know it opens a can of worms concerning Newman's apt.

My theory is that it was a salute to The Honeymooners. Jerry and Kramer were involved in a hare-brained scheme, much like something Ralph and Norton would do. Ralph would often communicate with Ed by sticking his head out the window and yelling up.
