Cotton Dockers

Watching this ep. tonight made me think that there are a lot of people that are seeing the show for the first time in Syndication.

Are there other story lines that reference (then) current events that the new viewer would be left out on. (They do a decent job of describing the commercial but if you remember the commercial the episode is funnier). None leap to my mind, but there must be more. Its another tribute to the show that it does stand the test of time so completely.

Anyway, back to real life for a while.

So here I am talking to myself again... I just read the tech. thread and it is along the same line as my question. I hadn't read it before I posted...strange.

There is the reference to serial killer Joel Rifkin. Though I guess in that case one figures out who he is after watching the episode. Oh, and in that same episode, Elaine suggests he change his name to OJ. It had to have been filmed before the real OJ became a killer himself, but I don't feel like checking. If I think of more I will post them later.

That episode ("The Masseuse") aired on November 18, 1993 (and was obviously filmed prior to that), and the OJ murders happened the following June. So it does seem a bit spooky.
