UNIVERSAL RECORDS TO RELEASE FIRST ALBUM BY AWARD-WINNING COMEDIAN JERRY SEINFELD
New York, New York, August 3, 1998 - Universal Records will release award-winning comedian Jerry Seinfeld's first-ever album, entitled I'm Telling You For The Last Time, it was announced today by Universal Music Group Chairman Doug Morris and Vice Chairman Mel Lewinter. The album is scheduled for release on September 22, 1998.
The album, which will be recorded live during Seinfeld's upcoming HBO comedy special, will feature the comedian in his first stand-up performance since ending his long-running hit television series on NBC earlier this year. The special will be taped on August 9, 1998, from New York City's Broadhurst Theatre.

Jerry Seinfeld's transition from stand-up comedian to comic television actor earned him the 1992 and 1993 American Comedy Award, 1994 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and five nominations for an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. His first television special, "Jerry Seinfeld's Stand-Up Confidential," aired 1987-88 on HBO to an overwhelming response. He went on to host NBC's "Spy TV: How To Be Famous" and Showtime's "Aspen Comedy Festival." In 1993, Seinfeld penned "SeinLanguage," which remained on The New York Times best-seller list for 33 weeks. And later, in the fall of 1994, Seinfeld hosted "Abbott & Costello Meet Jerry Seinfeld," an NBC special showcasing the comedy team that inspired Seinfeld as a youth.
But his broad comic appeal was fully realized with the launch of his ground breaking NBC television series "Seinfeld" in 1989. The series went on to become a cultural signpost for the '90s, winning both Emmy and Peabody Awards. And when Seinfeld called it quits in May, he did so to an estimated audience of over 79 million viewers.
