I've been looking for months to find something from Seinfeld so obscure that only a handful of other people would ever notice it. I hope I have finally found it. So here is the question:

In various episodes, a kitchen scene allows for a camera shot with a great angle into Jerry's fridge. If the fridge door is opened during one of these shots, you can easily see food products in there. Besides, we've seen many instances of characters taking specific foods out of, and putting foods into the fridge.

Now as to the original question, I've heard that the fridge actually did work. jerry used to keep bottled water in it for between takes. I've also heard that it was used by the crew. In other words, some of the food in Jerry's fridge wasn't just there as a prop, it was, like, the key grip's lunch or something.

Some memorable items seen entering and leaving Jerry's fridge would include:

Kramer's "Chicken Chow", for Little Jerry. Tomato juice. ("My rods and cones are all messed up!") Cheese (and whatever else Kramer scrounged for Hildy when she got hungry.)

and of course, Snapple.
