Hey everyone, I'm in self-imposed exile from the group to see if I enjoy the show anymore (my theory being that hearing all this negative talk about the show keeps me from enjoying it....). :) BTW, I loved this past episode, very funny!
But, I had to pop in and say that I was checking out rec.food.cooking, and they were discussing this week's episode since it had to do with a meat slicer. People were saying insulting things about the level of intelligence of Seinfeld viewers..... :)

Of course most of the posts are about cooking. What do you expect, it's a cooking newsgroup! What made it so funny is the way that Seinfeld has worked its way into so many parts of our lives. I got a flyer from the cable company, it said that you shouldn't buy satellite dishes because you won't get your local news channels, and you'll miss local news, sports, and Seinfeld! :)
You are right, only one post directly insulted the level of intelligence of Seinfeld viewers. But I just went back and looked, and only three posts were in favor of the show, and 7 against. So I was not exaggerating, maybe you just need a better newserver!
You are missing the point. Seinfeld is such a part of our culture that it pops up everywhere, including cooking newsgroups! That's more a testament to the shows' originality and creativity than anything.
So relax, the siege mentality is all in your head!

You can certainly get Seinfeld on my satellite (DISH Network). The syndicated Seinfeld's are on three times per day, and the new shows are on twice (once on the east coast channel, then later in the evening on the west coast channel).
